BankTech Conference 2018, an international bank conference focused on innovation and transformation, took place on September 14th at Athens Marriott. The participation exceeded 200 senior and C-level Banking and IT Executives from Greece, Cyprus, Serbia, Albania, Kosovo, FYROM, Romania, Bulgaria and Poland.
The conference aimed not only at highlighting cutting-edge, innovative solutions and technologies such as AI, KYC, Big Data Analytics, Tech-driven Customer Engagement & Experience (CX) etc., but also at a dynamic exchange of views and experiences for Banking experts from different geographic markets.
The participants at BankTech had the opportunity to attend interactive and inspiring presentation from distinguished speakers coming from Institutions, financial and IT organizations. The speakers developed critical subjects by contributing to the conference's central message, which preaches that Digital Transformation in Banking is the means to capitalize and expand new services and to achieve an increasing market performance, and increased customer retention in a highly competitive and regulatory environment.
Ralf Jacob, Head of Unit D3 of DG Financial Stability of the European Commission, developed the subject: "Fostering innovation through the new EU regulatory framework", Nelly Tzakou-Lambropoulou, Chairman of the Greek Committee for Digital Banking & General Manager of Retail Banking at the National Bank, thoroughly analyze the transformation facets in her speech: "The imperative of digital transformation for the banking sector: challenges & opportunities", while Martin Koderisch, Thought Leader, Manager, London Office, by Edgar Dunn & Co, gave the audience his expert approach on the subject: "PSD2: SCA and the future of authentication".
During the second session, pioneering presentations were delivered by Mellon's partners: Fiserv, InAuth, Ingenico, Gemalto, Genesys, NEC Enterprise Solutions, Strands and Unblu took place. LG Business Solutions, a partner of Mellon Group of Companies, was the Digital Signage Partner of the conference.
In the last session of BankTech 2018, Michael Hoffmann, Senior Manager of Danske Bank, shared his experience in his speech: "A brief insight into the Nordic digital payment transformation" providing enlightening evidence of the progress of the Bank Transformation and Growth in the Scandinavian countries with an emphasis on the realization of integrated inter-bank, cross-border payment services.
The conference came to an end with an interesting panel discussion on the topic: "How Artificial Intelligence is Transforming the Banking Sector" moderated by Dr. Dimitris Vlitas, Visiting Prof., University of Toronto, with the participation of Mr. D. Charalampidis, Alpha Bank Executive Director, K. Chlouverakis, Group Chief Digital Officer of Eurobank, N. Christodoulou, General Manager, Group COO, Member of the Executive Committee of National Bank, and S. Syrmakezis, Chief Retail, Digital and Technology Officer of Praxia Bank.
